“Our hearts are so full. Everyone happy, healthy and settling in at home. So grateful @kanelambert,” she posted on Instagram alongside a black and white photo of her holding their child while recovering in a hospital bed.

It was revealed in October the pair were expecting their first child and Gelmi began her maternity leave last month.

Gelmi told The Herald Sun at the time it had not been an easy pregnancy.

“While it’s been a such special time, I’ve been quite unwell,” Gelmi told the News Corp publication.

“I could not have felt more supported by my work family at Seven and I am so grateful for the grace they’ve given me, especially during the Commonwealth Games.

“It’s been a very busy few months for us and we’re excited about what’s to come.”

The happy news announced on Tuesday was warmly welcomed by the couple’s A-lister friends.

Brooke Cotchin, the wife of Tigers captain Trent Cotchin was among the first to respond, writing: “Biggest Congratulations fam! The absolute best. Enjoy your magical little love bubble. Can’t wait to meet you Louis”.

Reality TV star Tayla Broad also posted a message filled with love struck emojis.

Tigers legend Matthew Richardson and many other star players, including Jack Riewoldt, also congratulated the couple.

Gelmi served as co-host for Channel 7’s coverage of the Birmingham Commonwealth Games in July and last year’s Tokyo Olympics.

The Perth-raised 32-year-old recently stepped away from her 7News’ sport presenter duties due to illness.

Lambert represented the Richmond Tigers in 135 games after making his AFL debut in 2015, winning three premierships with the club.

The 30-year-old announced his retirement in July following a string of injuries, but the All-Australian will stay with the club as a development coach.

Lambert received the Francis Bourke award at Richmond’s Jack Dyer Medal last week, winning the prestigious accolade for a second time.

Gelmi and Lambert struck up a romance early last year after the television presenter moved to Melbourne.

It came after Gelmi’s marriage breakdown with Sky Racing presenter Ben Way, who split in 2020.

The couple got married in late 2019 after three years together.
