Channel 7 presenter Abbey Gelmi and former Richmond star Kane Lambert have announced the birth of their first child.
The footy couple welcomed a baby boy, Louis, last Wednesday.
“Louis James Lambert came into the world 8.3.23. Our hearts are so full. Everyone happy, healthy and settling in at home. So grateful @kanelambert.”
Gelmi, the 7 News sport presenter, posted a sweet picture to social media cradling her newborn in a hospital bed.
After going on maternity leave last month she felt “all the love” when farewelled by colleagues and Rebecca Maddern hosted a baby shower for her.
In October she shared the baby news, explaining why as co-host of the Commonwealth Games coverage in July/August she had to step away due to illness.
“While it’s been a such special time, I’ve been quite unwell,” Gelmi told the Herald Sun.
“I could not have felt more supported by my work family at Seven and I am so grateful for the grace they’ve given me, especially during the Commonwealth Games.”
Gelmi and Lambert struck up a romance early in 2021 soon after the Perth-raised presenter made the move to Melbourne.
The three-time premiership Tiger announced his retirement in July last year after 135 games and a string of injuries. He has stayed at the club as a development coach.
Gelmi has kept her relationship relatively private while taking on her dream job with Seven.
She took over the presenting reins at the weekend sports desk and at Footy Central during the footy coverage after Jacqui Felgate left the network.
In May last year the couple gave a sneak peek into the frames of their dream home which they are building from scratch and documenting on Instagram.
