Comedian and Triple M radio host, Marty Sheargold, was reportedly involved in a messy incident at the AFL Grand Final on September 30.

According to the Herald Sun, Sheargold was asked to leave a corporate area inside the Melbourne Cricket Ground at halftime after complaints about his behaviour.

However, Southern Cross Austereo - the parent company behind Triple M - claimed Sheargold “left the AFL Grand Final at halftime of his own accord.”

“We will continue to support Marty’s request for personal leave to spend time with his family and we look forward to having him back on air soon,” the SCA spokesperson added in a statement to news.com.au.

Representatives from Triple M were said to have apologised to people who had made a complaint about Sheargold’s conduct at the sporting event.

It comes as Sheargold, 52, has been missing from his Triple M radio show for more than a week now, with SCA releasing a statement on Saturday saying Sheargold was on leave.

“Marty is taking personal leave to spend some more time with family. He will be back on air again soon,” the statement read.

Anchor Troy Ellis filled in for Sheargold last week, with Anthony ‘Lehmo’ Lehmann filling in so far this week.

News.com.au has contacted Sheargold’s management for comment.

Sheargold was nowhere to be seen at the radio awards, known as the ACRAs, in Sydney on Saturday night, where his longtime producer and Triple M team member, Loren Barry, presented during the ceremony.

Barry told Herald Sun on the pink carpet at the ACRAs that “everything is fine” with Sheargold, and suggested that the gruelling hours of breakfast radio had taken a toll on the host.

“He is just taking some time, he is just spending some time with his family, but we are all good,” Barry said.

“Everything is fine. We will be back.

“Working in breakfast radio you just get really tired. It is a very tiring job,” she said.
