All eyes will be on Geelong, Port Adelaide and Melbourne with the clubs still in the middle of wheeling and dealing, while the Bombers aren’t finished yet either.

Four-club deal finally gets over the line

Right before the trade action wrapped up on Tuesday the four-team trade that had been hanging in the air was completed.

Carlton, St Kilda, Essendon and the Western Bulldogs are said to have agreed to the mega trade which results in Nick Coffield joining the Dogs, Paddy Dow joining the Saints.

In return for Dow the Blues will receive a draft pick while the Bombers will get upgraded picks.

Collingwood ‘blindsided’ by star’s request after cryptic post

Collingwood football boss Graham Wright addressed speculation surrounding the future of Jack Ginnivan.

Wright on Monday night said the club was not seeking out a move for the livewire forward.

“No, I haven’t taken any calls about that,” Wright told said on Trade Radio. “We haven’t sought to take calls either.

“From our perspective, it hasn’t been an issue at all. We see Jack as a part of what we’re doing, he’s contracted for next year and we haven’t taken any calls at all.”

That all changed on Tuesday.

SEN’s Sam Edmund and Tom Morris reported the club is open to moving him on with Hawthorn emerging as the frontrunner to secure his services.

Ginnivan officially requested a move on Tuesday afternoon with his manager, John Meesen, informing Collingwood of his client’s desire to explore his trade options.

Edmund on AFL Trade Radio reported Hawthorn was “absolutely in the box seat” for the livewire forward who kicked 40 goals in 2022.

Ginnivan took to social media where he posted a photo of himself taking a sip from a water bottle with the writing “locked in” over the top. He deleted the post before news of his trade request went public.

9 News’ Branden Ingram reports the bombshell request caught Collingwood by surprise.

“Jack Ginnivan was indeed working out at Olympic Park having just made a swift exit from Magpies HQ in the past few minutes. What a whirlwind 18 hours…off the plane from Bali, meets with Hawks, now management requests trade, Pies blindsided,” he wrote.

Gun Essendon midfielder could still find a new home

There was a decent amount of speculation linking Dylan Shiel with a third club earlier in the trading period.

The 30-year-old, who started his career with GWS before returning to Melbourne with the Bombers, has had an injury-interrupted five-year stint at Windy Hill.

He was linked with a shift to St Kilda this month to add some experience to the Saints’ midfield before that was shut down by Essendon list manager Adrian Dodoro.

But AFL Media’s draft and trade expert Callum Twomey said a possible deal isn’t dead yet.

“Clubs haven’t absolutely ruled Dylan Shiel out as a live trade option, albeit being seen as an outside, low percentage chance,” Twomey tweeted.

“Dons involved in Zerk-Thatcher, Duursma, D’Ambrosio deals and pick swaps, but Shiel one to follow before deadline.”

Carlton making quiet move for ‘bargain’ trade

Carlton is set to be the beneficiary of a rival club’s stuff up and pick up former top-10 pick Elijah Hollands from Gold Coast.

Hollands is expected to get his request to move to the Blues after playing out of position on for the Suns this season.

News Corp’s Jon Ralph said on Fox Footy’s Trading Day on Monday night the Blues will be able to seal the deal with one a draft pick in the 20-30 range.

North Melbourne premiership player David King said he expects Hollands to win a spot in the Blues’ midfield.

“I’m a massive fan of this guy,” King said.

“You’re right, to be played out of position - put him in the midfield and let him go to work. True midfielders die on the wings; it’s just a different thing altogether. You’re out there where you’re possession-starved, all you do is run up, behind the ball, or run back behind it.”

He said the Blues are getting the best deal of out of all the haggling being done surrounding second round selections.

“Of all the players that are talked about as these bargain buys, picks 30 and 40 or whatever, he’s the pick of the lot,” King said.

“That’s the best of the lot.”

Suns list boss Craig Cameron earlier hinted the club was seeking to off-load Holland’s contract value.

Deal done as Roos sign Richmond youngster

Another deal that has gone through on Monday is North Melbourne’s recruitment of Richmond prospect Bigoa Nyuon.

The 200cm defender or ruckman has been swapped for pick 65 in this year’s AFL Draft.

The 22-year-old Nyuon had a consistent season in the VFL in 2022 and made his AFL debut the same season.

“Biggie is an athletic key defender who stood out to us with his ability to take intercept marks and his versatility to play as a ruck,” North Melbourne head of football talent Brady Rawlings said.

“The Tigers have a few tall options down back and in the ruck, so he’s searching for an opportunity to play senior football.

“We look forward to welcoming him into the club and seeing his attributes further develop here.”

Petty won’t be going anywhere

Harrison Petty has been one of the more intriguing names thrown around throughout the trade period so far.

The versatile Demon has drawn interest from his home state of South Australia, but Melbourne list manager Tim Lamb insists he won’t be going anywhere, NCA Newswire reports.

Lamb said it was “100 per cent” certain that Petty would remain at Melbourne next season as the Crows pursue a player as part of a deal for Shane McAdam and show strong interest in the key position utility, who grew up in Wudinna on the Eyre Peninsula.

Petty will become a free agent when his contract expires at the end of 2025 and has reportedly turned down an extension offer from the Demons.

But Lamb said the club was eager to extend his stay further and categorically ruled out his involvement in any trade during this period.

“One hundred per cent, that’s 100 per cent,” Lamb told AFL Trade Radio when asked whether Petty would stay.
