Gold Coast housing prices skyrocket

Plans for a new mega mansion with a Batcave-style underground garage have been unveiled for a site in the heart of Broadbeach Waters.

Gold Coast City Council will consider the proposal which would see a house on a 1126sq m Andrea Ave site demolished to make way for the mansion, which has been proposed by developer Noi Project.

According to the plans, the three-level house will have a range of features including:

■ A six-car basement garage with a Batcave-style turntable to allow the cars to be rotated for easy exit.

■ The basement level also has a theatre, storage area and laundry.

■ A lift which travels between each level.

■ The ground floor level includes a kitchen, lounge, office, bedroom with ensuite and a wellness retreat/sauna which overlooks a terrace and private basketball key, pool and alfresco pavilion.

■ The second level has five bedrooms with views of the nearby canals.

■ The third level will feature a private retreat and roof terrace.

It is the latest in a series of large multi-level mansions which have been proposed in the past year.

Plans were lodged with the Council in April for a mansion, which is earmarked for a 1353sq m site on Admiralty Drive in Surfers Paradise’s Paradise Waters estate.

Put forward by the Scholars Group, it will be three-storeys tall and also feature a six-car garage and win cellar.

In May, bathroom fittings high-roller Lindsay Sinclair unveiled plans to build the palatial four-level home on the corner of Hedges Ave and Alfred St.

He bought the site, which has sat empty for more than 12 years, from developer John Potter in 2018 for $4.6m.

According to plans, the new mansion will have four levels, including an underground basement with space for four cars, a “man cave”, wine cellar, and a lift shaft which runs across the home’s levels.
