Woman stabbed as cops investigate alleged attack at Castletown bus stop

A woman has been charged after an alleged stabbing at a Townsville shopping centre bus stop. DETAILS.

A woman has been taken to hospital with minor stab wounds to her back.

A social media argument has allegedly escalated into a stabbing at a Townsville shopping centre bus top.

A woman, 19, has been charged after she allegedly stabbed a woman at the Castletown Shopping Centre bus stop.

About 2pm on January 29 the woman, 20, got into a physical fight with the alleged offender’s older sister.

When she witnessed the fight, the alleged offender stabbed the 20-year-old causing puncture wounds to her back.

The 19-year-old then allegedly dropped the knife and ran from the scene.

Police found her a short time later at a Sturt St residence where she was arrested.

The 20-year-old was taken to Townsville University Hospital where she was treated for her injuries.

Police will allege the pair had been arguing on social media in the lead up to the incident.

The woman, 19, will appear in the Townsville Magistrates Court on January 30. 

Woman allegedly stabbed in bus stop attack

A woman has been taken to hospital with stab wounds after a violent altercation outside a popular Townsville shopping centre.

Police have declared a crime scene at a bus stop near Castletown Shopping Centre in Pimlico following reports of a fight on Wednesday afternoon.

Officers responded to reports three people were seen with knives near the bus stop around 2pm.

It is believed an altercation occurred a short time later and a woman received some non-life threatening stab wounds to her back.

Paramedics transported the woman to Townsville University Hospital in a stable condition.

A person of interest left the scene but is now in police custody.

Investigations are ongoing.
