A Townsville retiree is ready to splash out on the family wish list after scoring $60,720 in a Keno draw at his favourite pub, which is fast becoming known for its lucky reputation.

A Townsville retiree can’t wait to tick several items off the family wishlist after scoring $60,000 in a Keno draw at Dalrymple Hotel over the weekend.

A Townsville retiree is ready to splash out on the family wish list after scoring $60,720 in a Keno draw at his favourite local pub, which is fast becoming known for its lucky reputation.

The ecstatic winner hit the Keno Classic 8 Spot jackpot in draw 568 on Sunday after buying his golden ticket at the Dalrymple Hotel in Garbutt.

This popular local hotspot has a history of making dreams come true, with a 78-year-old man previously scoring a colossal $1,636,024 cash prize on Keno there in 2017.

The latest lucky patron said everyone started going “wild” in the venue after his big $60,720 win.

“I didn’t know what was happening,” he said.

“Everyone else knew there was a major Keno win, except me – the winner!”

The man, who enjoys frequent visits to the Dalrymple Hotel with his family for trivia nights and Keno games, shared his plans for the windfall.

“We’re keen to replace all our electronics – new iPads, new phones,” he said.

“They’re pretty outdated. I wouldn’t mind looking at some new car models, too. Some new toys, I guess!”

Dalrymple Hotel manager Matt Jeboult was over the moon when he heard the news.

“We’re so happy it went to a local customer and someone who regularly supports us,” he said. “Everyone was buzzing with excitement, knowing a regular had won. Congratulations to the winner. We hope they’ll be able to buy something they’ve always wanted!”
