A Townsville man’s has said his $4 million keno win will go towards purchasing his first property

A Townsville man was left reeling after a last-minute decision to go to the pub with his friends turned into a $4 million win on Keno.

After tossing up whether to catch up with his mates at the Pub on Palmer or opt for a cosy Friday night in, one north Queenslander headed down to his local, unaware he was about to win millions.

“Initially, my friends and I weren’t even going to go to the venue, and we were so close to just staying at home. But we thought we would get ourselves out there, and it really paid off,” he said.

“I treat myself to a game of Keno once a month. I always like to play the Bonus entry.”

On Monday morning, a Keno official informed the blue-collar worker of his $4,468,449.40 win.

“I’m speechless. I can’t believe it – I’m in complete denial,” he said.

“I had some family plans the following day, so I went and saw my parents. I told them the news straight up and they were absolutely stoked. I had my parents in tears.”

The new multi-millionaire said he will use the money to purchase his very own home and help out his family.

The Pub on Palmer venue manager Linda Moyle said it was a great moment for the pub to sell its first major Keno jackpot.

“We have only recently reopened after being closed for renovations, and this couldn’t have been timed more perfectly to promote the pub at the heart of Palmer Street,” she said.

“Everyone was absolutely buzzing with excitement when they discovered someone in the venue had taken home the $4 million win in Keno.

“Congratulations to our winner! We hope this multimillion-dollar win allows them to do some amazing things with their prize!”
