Townsville musicians will fill the streets in a bid to officially ‘get the party started’ and welcome fans as they make their journey to Queensland Country Bank Stadium to see P!nk.

This week Townsville City Council announced a musician trail would be held next weekend (March 22-23) from The Strand, through the CBD and to the stadium as more than 80,000 people pour in to watch the international artist.

Townsville musician and singer of the band Sneaky Beats, Luan Krasniqi who will be performing in the city said he jumped at the chance to be involved in a musician trail that leads to Pink.

“It’s going to be absolutely incredible,” he said.

“There are so many amazing musicians that are local and we all get the opportunity to celebrate such a brilliant international artist.

“When I first learnt music I used to play keyboard and ‘Get the party started’ was one of the first songs I learnt so going back to the roots is good fun.”

Queensland Country Bank Stadium’s general manager Tom Kimball said the team were “locked and loaded” and ready for the massive event, which will include a number of aerial stunts performed by Pink.

“We can’t wait to host the Cowboys this Saturday and straight afterwards the trucks will start coming in,” he said.

“For those who have seen (the show) there’s a great aerial stunt towards the back end of the show.

“We’ve worked closely with the tour on the set up for that, it’s going to be an awesome sight for everyone to see.”

His suggestions to the fans visiting included packing light and planning their journey to the stadium ahead of time.

“The gates open at 5pm, we don’t want fans arriving too early,” he said.

“No backpacks, no bags over A4 size and stay hydrated, use the free water we will provide and make sure you have the right ticket to the right night.”

Mayor Jenny Hill also threw in her excitement for the massive event and said there were still affordable accommodation options for people despite the controversy surrounding people raising their prices for the weekend.

“The city is going to be well prepared for the act we’ve been waiting for this for a long time,” she said.

“We had Elton John pre-Covid and haven’t had anything since and want to show the community this is more than just a sporting city.”
