PEAK2PARK may be a fun run for some but for Toowoomba's Olympic and Commonwealth Games endurance runner Patrick Tiernan, the 10km Sunday run was a great addition to his gruelling training schedule.

Tacking the 10km run on the end of a 26km "warm-up", Tiernan said it was great to see the annual charity event had grown since he first entered seven years ago.

"It was a really competitive run for me back then and something I really looked forward to," he said.

Willows Health and Lifestyle Centre co-owner Troy Morgan said about 3000 runners lined up, backed by a "few hundred volunteers".

"It's fantastic to have the support of Toowoomba and that's why we started the event," he said.

"It was never about the fastest runner or times, it was more about getting (people) moving and, from the support of the community, helping local charities.

"It's great to see so many families doing the event and because we've been going for 13 years, to see children graduate from the 4km to running the 10km, a lot of journeys have been shared with us."

This year's beneficiaries are Hear and Say, Cystic Fibrosis Queensland and Toowoomba Club House.
