HAYLEY Beare was working at a Toowoomba law firm when she first fell in love with pole dancing.

Fast forward a few months and Ms Beare is now the director of new Toowoomba dance studio, Pole Angels, which opened yesterday.

Ms Beare said the studio, which specialised in pole dancing, burlesque, dance and flexibility, would help empower women of all backgrounds.

"Any shape or size, any career - you can still pole dance," Ms Beare said.

"I first did pole dancing when I was working at a family law firm a few years ago. I wanted to do something a little bit different, I didn't want to go to the gym and I felt self-conscious about my body.

"Then I came into pole dancing - and you look at yourself differently. It's an incredible group of women."

Ms Beare, who has completed stints with the Great Moscow Circus and the Hudson Circus, has employed a team of dancers to help clients master the pole.

The studio, which is based in an airy space on Ruthven St, will host a range of evening and weekend classes.

"We've got professional dancers, mothers, baristas, doctors - you name it," Ms Beare said.

"People worry about what they have to wear, but after you do your first class, the worry goes away.

"I think a lot of people are curious. There's still a fair bit of stigma that surrounds it, but once you try it that goes too."
