Emergency services respond to crashes in Toowoomba region

Emergency services rushed to the scene of a rollover on a regional highway. It comes as earlier crashes resulted in serious injuries and massive fines.

Emergency services rushed to Yarranlea in the Toowoomba region, after reports a car had rolled on the Gore Highway on Wednesday afternoon.

Fire crews were called to the scene at 3.27pm on Wednesday afternoon, after reports a car had rolled off the highway, trapping a person, a Queensland Fire Department spokeswoman said.

When two crews arrived on scene at 3.55pm, the occupant had been able to free themselves.

A woman in her 20s was assessed by paramedics for minor shoulder and facial injuries.

The woman was in a stable condition.

The highway was clear by 3.50pm.

Earlier, a man was rushed to hospital in a serious but stable condition, after his motorbike crashed into a tree.

Paramedics were called to the scene on Flagstone Creek Rd at Upper Flagstone at 2.33pm, where a man had sustained head and chest injuries after a motorbike crash.

The man, in his 70s, was taken to Toowoomba Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

A QPS spokeswoman said the forensic crash unit would conduct an investigation into the cause of the accident.

Emergency services also rushed to the scene of a multi-vehicle crash in Toowoomba’s north on Wednesday afternoon.

Emergency crews were called to the three-car collision on North and Parrot Streets just after noon on Wednesday, August 7.

The initial call indicated a person was trapped in a vehicle.

However, by the time a fire crew arrived on scene, all the vehicle’s occupants were free though one vehicle was on its roof.

Paramedics assessed four people on scene, but only one was taken to hospital, a QAS spokeswoman said.

A woman in her 30s was taken to Toowoomba Hospital in a stable condition with chest pain.

A QPS spokeswoman said one man was charged after the crash.

“Initial investigations indicate at about 12.10pm, a beige 2000 Toyota Camry and a black 2005 Ford Focus collided at the intersection of North Street from Parrot Street,” she said.

As a result, the Ford Focus has flipped onto its roof.

“The driver of the Toyota Camry and sole occupant of the vehicle, a 39-year-old Middle Ridge man, was not injured.

“The driver of the Ford Focus and sole occupant of the vehicle, a 30-year-old Glenvale woman, was transported to Toowoomba Hospital with minor injuries.

“The 39-year-old man was issued with a $645 fine for careless driving or driving without due care and attention.”
