Hope comes in many different forms and now it will come in the way of an op shop, which will help fund the great work regional Queensland’s only cancer wellness centre, Hope Horizons, continue to do for cancer patients across the Darling Downs and beyond.

With second hand shopping and thrifting thriving during COVID Hope Horizons saw the chance to start a new social enterprise to help fund their cancer wellness centre and on Tuesday, April 6 Hope Horizons introduced Hope on a Hanger, the first of their pop up op shops at High St Plaza.

“Thanks to the generosity of High Street plaza we have a wonderful space for four weeks to sell some terrific garments and homeware,” Volunteer store manager Steffi Jachmann said.

Hope Horizons

Hope Horizons is the only cancer wellness centre in regional Queensland offering a plethora of allied health and wellness services to those of us going through cancer or completed treatment.

Currently, the centre at Drayton tends to the needs of over 400 people within the Toowoomba region who are currently fighting cancer.

“Our vision is to diminish the impact cancer has on our lives,” Hope Horizons vice Chair Jo Capp said.

“But we need funds to make this happen. Bloomhill Cancer Care on the Sunshine Coast has several op shops and they are very successful in raising funds for what they do for their community.”

The Hope on a Hanger pop up store will be open from April 6 from 10am to 5pm week days and 9am to 2pm on Saturdays.
