A Toowoomba woman has won more than $300,000 on Keno on New Year’s Day at a pub at Greenmount.
The woman, who is from the Darling Downs, scored a Keno Classic prize worth $308,777 in draw 272 on Wednesday.
The woman told a Keno official that she didn’t realise she had won the prize until the next day.
“I didn’t even know I’d won,” she said in a press release.
“I just went in to check my ticket and the next thing I know I’m talking to Keno about winning $300,000.”
She described the win as a “shock”.
“I’m still overwhelmed by it all,” she said.
The woman, a regular player of Keno, also described the win as a “lovely new year’s gift”.
“I’ve worked hard all my life and this will be a nice nest egg for retirement.”
The woman’s winning entry was purchased at the Get Chopped Pub in Greenmount.
Brendon Quirey, who works at the pub, said the woman was in “total shock” after speaking with Keno on the phone.
“She said she’d be back in the next week sometime to shout everyone a beer,” he said.
