Fireys working to keep Millmerran Woods fires under control
Fire crews are still working to keep multiple grass fires under control west of Toowoomba more than 24 hours after first responding. Here’s the latest.

Residents west of Toowoomba have been on high alert after a grass fire began burning out of control.
It is understood the fire began at around noon on Sunday in the Millmerran Woods area, with Queensland Fire Department issuing a stay informed warning to residents.
A QFD spokesman said crews managed to get the fire under control yesterday afternoon, however an active warning remains in place.
Air support was called in on Sunday afternoon to assist ground crews who remain at the fire ground on Monday afternoon.
It is unclear as to how the fire started and it’s understood there are multiples areas of fire within Millmerran Woods.
Members of the public are urged to avoid driving through the area to allow for emergency services to get through.

– Decide where you and the people you live with will go. This could be with family or a friend away from the fire.
– Keep medications close by.
– Avoid smoke – stay indoors, close windows and doors, and avoid driving through smoke.
– Watch out for firefighters working in the area.
– Do not fly drones around the fire. Drones affect air operations.
– If your life is in danger, call triple-0 (000) immediately.
