Wet weather set to return for parts of QLD and NSW

A person and multiple dogs have died inside their vehicle after becoming trapped in flood waters outside Toowoomba on Monday morning.

A Queensland Police Services spokesman confirmed crews attended the scene near Brimblecombe Road at Kingsthorpe just before 5am in relation to a vehicle with two occupants inside trapped in flood waters.

A woman was saved and taken to hospital in a stable condition for treatment.

The male passenger was located dead inside his ute, along with a number of dogs also found deceased.

A QFES spokesman confirmed just after 7am that four crews were assisting at the scene after receiving the call at 5.05am on Monday morning.

A Queensland Police Services spokesman said police also arrived on scene shortly after and worked with QFES who were “formulating a plan” to rescue the occupants.

Investigations are ongoing and police have confirmed they will prepare a report for the Coroner.

Swiftwater rescue crews also attended the scene of an incident at Greenmount Clifton Road and Warkon Street, Greenmount where a person became trapped on the roof of their vehicle stuck in floodwaters.

The QFES spokesman said crews had been on the scene since 5.25am on Monday alongside three Rural Fire Service crews.

They arrived to find a motorist stranded in the roof of their vehicle about 40m from dry land.

The crews made multiple attempts to enter the floodwater but had to turn back due to the speed and force of the current.

They regrouped via Greenmount Connection Road and were able to access the motorist by 7am.

The patient was in the hands of QAS paramedics at 7.20am.

An uninjured patient was also retrieved from floodwater on Old Wyreema Road at 4.05am.

Queensland Ambulance Service paramedics have responded to multiple calls to help motorists caught in floodwater.

A rescue is underway to locate and retrieve several people trapped near the intersection of Clifton Road and Stirling Road at North Branch, near Pittsworth.

Seven QFES crews are at the scene preparing to enter the water and rescue the stranded motorists.

They arrived shortly after 8am.

In an unrelated incident, swift water rescue technicians rescued a single motorist who was caught on top of their vehicle in floodwater on Mann Silo Road at Kincora, near Brookstead.

They entered the floodwater about 7.30am and had the stranded motorist in the hands of Queensland Ambulance Service paramedics but 8am
