A past resident and a successful author will both share their stories of courage and strength at this year’s Sunrise Way Resilience Breakfast, to be held on March 26 on the lawns outside the facility.

Sunrise Way CEO Louise Sanderson said the annual event was an opportunity to highlight the work done by the rehabilitation centre while helping to raise funds for the service.

“We’re fortunate here that all of our operational costs are covered by state and commonwealth funding,” Ms Sanderson said.

“However, to be able to enhance the services which are available to our residents, we do rely on fundraising and donations.

Mary Li, author of “Mary’s Last Dance”.

“Currently we have a seven week wait list – so the need for the service is great.

“While fundraising is an important part of these events, it’s also vital to raise awareness about the difference Sunrise Way is making to people’s lives.”

Ms Sanderson said this year’s guest speaker, author Mary Li, would talk about overcoming challenges.

“We’re so excited that Mary Li has agreed to be our guest speaker at this event,” Ms Sanderson said.

“Her story, outlined in her book Mary’s Last Dance, highlights the challenges she has faced both in her professional and private life, which I’m sure will be of interest to many people.

“(Her) book is a story of courage and resilience and it really resonates with what we promote here at Sunrise Way.”

Tickets to the breakfast are $50 and can be purchased through toowoombatickets.com.au.
