An ambitious and goal-orientated young Toowoomba woman is set to take on the world after receiving a high ATAR score and gaining acceptance into a world-renowned university.

The Glennie School graduate and 2022 dux Sienna Richardson said she was relieved to be finished and excited for what's next after a stressful year.

“I’m pretty proud, I’m not going to lie,” she said.

“Every assessment I would try my best and start early, so when the time came to do the external exams, I was in a good place with my marks.”

A student that thrived in STEM subjects, Ms Richardson said it was a real surprise to receive dux followed by a 99.75 ATAR score.

“I’m feeling relieved to be done with it all, but also excited because I’ve achieved a great result and I’m happy with what I’ve done,” she said.

The dance lover, who specialised in ballet and contemporary, said the art form was a great escape for her during a stressful year, and had proven benefits for her future.

“Next year, I’m taking a gap year because I need a year away from all the study and stress. But I’ve also received a few dance contracts from across different parts of Australia, so I’ll be doing those throughout the year,” she said.

After a 12-month break the 18-year-old hoped to study a double degree in advanced science and law at either the University of Queensland or the Australian National University.

Once graduated, she will travel overseas and study medicine at Harvard University, with an already-guaranteed spot.

Ms Richardson has dreams of becoming an anaesthetist, and said while she originally applied to Harvard as a joke, the shock of this month’s events had not yet set in.

Graduate Liliana Lester said she was proud of the hard work she had put in, and the opportunities that have come of that.

“All the effort has finally paid off, so I’m happy,” fellow graduate Nala Splettstoesser said.
