Natasha Krahenbring knew she was onto something as soon as she stepped foot inside the dusty, cobweb filled former gym space.

The old home of Strength Precinct Toowoomba, former marketing guru Mrs Krahenbring had a vision to transform the Water Street shell into a vibrant shared office space with a touch of city luxury and quickly set about bringing her dream to life with her very own hands.

“My husband, Troy and my eight-year-old son Preston and I started working on the building back in January on the Australia Day long weekend,” she said.

“Other than the electrical and plumbing work the entire job has been our labour of love, with us building the kitchen, installing all the gyprock and plasterboard – I’ve painted every square inch of this entire space myself.
“I think I’ve actually given myself RSI but it’s worth it to see the vision for Emerald Kove finally come together.”

Director and owner of fellow shared office space, Ko Kollective just a few doors down the road for the last three and a half years Mrs Krahenbring said the jewel theme stemmed from her lifelong love of The Wizard of Oz.

“We wanted to find a space close to the Ko Kollective with plenty of parking, because you can never have enough parking when it comes to office spaces,” she said.

“We currently have 12 office spaces and our boardroom completed, with only one space left unoccupied and we have plans to install stairs and open up the second story, creating a further seven larger office spaces.”

Mrs Krahenbring said there was also an office space dedicated solely to holistic health including counselling and therapy sessions as well as massage with small businesses able to hire the room on an hourly basis.

“We’re calling it ‘Your Room’ and the whole idea is to provide the small businesses within the community a flexible workspace they only need to pay for when they need it,” she said.

“With more and more businesses transitioning to working remotely due to the pandemic, co-working spaces like this are becoming popular and accessible ways to juggle life and work without having to make your like your work – you can separate the two.”
