Joseph John Hill pleads guilty to dangerous driving causing death of Brooke Holder

The 35-year-old has taken responsibility for the crash which claimed the life of a 29-year-old mother of five.

The driver of a vehicle involved in an horrific crash near Bowenville which claimed the life of a 29-year-old woman has pleaded guilty to dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death.

Toowoomba man Joseph John Hill, 35, appeared in Toowoomba District Court on Friday to plead guilty to the charge.

He was the driver of a Holden Commodore which slammed head-on into a semi-trailer on the Warrego Highway near Bowenville on June 17, last year.

His passenger, mother of five Brooke Louise Holder, died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash.

Police investigators said at the time that it appeared the Holden Commodore had veered onto the wrong side of the road.

The 35-year-old driver of the truck was transported to Dalby Hospital where he was treated for minor injuries.

Hill’s lawyer Brad Skuse, of Toowoomba legal firm Skuse Graham Lawyers, asked the court to transfer his client’s case for sentence at the next sittings of the Dalby District Court.

Judge Jennifer Rosengren acceded to Mr Skuse’s request and adjourned the matter to the next call-over of Dalby District Court matters on August 11.

Hill was remanded on bail.
