Jacob Robert Henley charged with fraud of at least $100,000

The 37-year-old is charged with fraud of at least $100,000, fraud of between $30,000 and $100,000 and associated matters.

A FORMER gym owner charged with fraud of more than $100,000 has appeared before Toowoomba Magistrates Court.

Jacob Robert Henley, 37, stood quietly beside solicitor John Davis, of Kennedy Spanner Lawyers, during the brief mention of his matters in court on Wednesday.

Mr Davis said he was to pick up the brief of evidence from police and asked for an adjournment to go through that brief with the defendant who would then decide whether or not to engage Kennedy Spanner Lawyers to represent him.

Mr Henley has not as yet been required to enter any pleas to the charges which include one counts of fraud – dishonestly obtaining property from another to the value of at least $100,000, one count of fraud – dishonestly obtaining property from another to the value of or over $30,000 but less than $100,000, two counts of fraud – dishonestly causing detriment, two counts of uttering a forged document, and one count of forgery and uttering.

No specific details relating to the charges have as yet been aired in court but it is believed one charge arises from fraud to the value of more than $200,000.

Magistrate Louise Shephard remanded Mr Henley on bail and adjourned the case for committal mention back in the same court next month.
