Three years of getting down and dirty have all lead to this moment – a new go kart track for the region.
Paul and Vicki Chimes, former owners of OZ-E Kart in Wilsonton, knew they wanted to return to the industry and have unveiled their outdoor track, Adrenaline Sports.
“We knew we wanted this, and we were determined to get it going,” Mr Chimes said.
The couple, who live in Withcott, purchased the former Withcott nursery site and officially opened the new park on Saturday, in time for the school holidays.
“We could have opened a month ago, but we deliberately targeted this week and knew this was the time to do it,” Mr Chimes said.
“The school holidays are your busy times.
“We will see more and more people walking through the door … we are already busier than we were yesterday.”
The couple previously operated the Wilsonton indoor track for 16 years, before deciding in 2016 it was time to step back.
“We had really had enough of business, and it was a lot of work,” Mr Chimes said.
“We were running nine different companies at the same time … now we’re only running three.”
Mr Chimes, who also works in construction, said karting was the “most fun part of it all”.
“People have a ride, they have an adrenaline rush, and you never have a grumpy customer,” he said.
“We have already had a lot of happy people having fun on the karts, and it's a relief to get it up and going.”
The track, beside Freedom Fuels in Withcott, also has an onsite tiny tots playground and a cafe section for parents to relax with a coffee while the kids have fun.
“People can have a picnic down here if they want,” Mr Chimes said.
“We’re not just catering to the petrol heads.
“Our karts are also very adjustable and mainly height orientated.
“You have to be tall enough to reach the pedals, but we can make adjustments to make it more comfortable.”
Adrenaline Sports are open seven days a week during the school holidays – visit Facebook for more details.
