The family involved in a shocking motorbike crash that left a teenager seriously injured have shared their gratitude, after more than $6000 was raised to aid his recovery.

According to a LifeFlight release on Monday, the teenage boy was travelling on a cattle property near Oakey when he fell off and hit a metal post.

The Toowoomba-based Surat Gas Aeromedical Service crew flew him to the Queensland Children’s Hospital with head and arm injuries.

The boy’s aunt, Kate Owens, started a GoFundMe earlier this week to support the family and help pay the medical bills.

The campaign had raised more than $6000 as at Saturday.

In an update posted to the GoFundMe on Friday, the boy remains in the pediatric intensive care unit, but doctors are remaining positive about his recovery.

“We can’t put into words how grateful we are for the incredible doctors and nurses who have been taking care of him,” the post said.

“From QAS and Lifeflight and the superheroes at QCH PICU and Ronald McDonald house, their skill, compassion, and kindness have been nothing short of extraordinary during this terrifying time for our family.”
