Described as both naughty and fun, the Shoebox Theatre Company production of Avenue Q follows the trials and tribulations of puppet Princeton as he meets friends and dabbles with love, learning lessons along the way.
Brought to life through a local cast, the production marks a new beginning after the ups and downs of 2020.
Actor Jo Tooley, who plays the character Christmas Eve, said the cast was excited to be back on the stage.
“It’s the second time we’ve done this production,” Ms Tooley said.
“We’re really excited to be doing it again and to have theatre happening again, and that’s why Shoebox has put this on, to try and get things back in the Empire and get some theatre back in Toowoomba
“It’s great to come and see an opening night, great atmosphere and plenty of drinks at the bar – what more could you want.”
Production director Lewis Jones said the cast had reassembled in December.
“We’ve had a chance to revisit some of the stuff, put in a few more jokes and tighten up some of the dancing routines, and it’s great to be in the big room in town,” Mr Jones said.
“Avenue Q is so slick, and it’s so funny; the music is terrific across the board.
“It’s more than a little naughty, they’re puppets so they have a licence to get away with a little bit more.”
