Crime scene: Investigations into wounding and fire continue

The police have declared a Toowoomba property a crime scene following wounding incident and mysterious house fire.

UPDATE: Toowoomba police have declared a Toowoomba property in Darling Heights a crime-scene after a man and woman were both found with serious injuries outside a burning house.

A Queensland Police Service spokesman said police were called to a loud disturbance at the Quinlan Ct property shortly after midnight and found the injured woman outside.

“Initial reports were that the man was still inside, but he was found a short distance away with serious injuries,” he said.

“It is believed the man and woman are known to each other.”

The pair were treated by paramedics at the scene before being taken to hospital for treatment.

There is no further information available at this time but investigations are continuing.

EARLIER: Authorities are continuing to investigate the nature of a Darling Heights house fire after several crews were called to the scene early this morning.

A Queensland Police Service spokesman said Toowoomba Police were called to the Quinlan Ct property at 12.20am and are continuing to investigate the scene.

“We cannot comment any further on the nature of the blaze or the occupants involved as the house fire is being treated as a police investigation at this point in time,” he said.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Spokeswoman said three crews responded to the call out.

“When crews arrived around 12.35am the house was well involved, crews then worked to extinguish the blaze and protect neighbouring properties,” she said.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman confirmed QAS were also involved but could not comment on the nature of the patients or the incident due to the ongoing nature of the investigation.

A Queensland Fire Communications spokesman said while the blaze was fully extinguished as of 1.25am this morning, authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire.

“We currently have no idea regarding the cause whatsoever, but there are people at the scene now taking a look at the scene and looking into what could have caused the blaze,” he said.
