Two other men – one of them holding three dogs on a lead – can also be seen taking part in the confrontation.

Police are investigating the incident that unfolded at 3pm on Monday afternoon.

A spokesperson said police had spoken with both parties and “investigations are continuing”.

One of the men in the video said he and a friend were taking the dogs for a walk when a man came out of the Spring Street property and accused them of unplugging his electricity and “messing with his water”.

“I’ve got no reason to mess with them whatsoever,” he said, speaking on the condition of anonymity.

He added he has never encountered the man with the machete before.

The incident was posted to the Better Beverley Community Group Instagram page on Tuesday by an unknown person.

The caption of the video says, ‘the suburb no one cares about’.

Locals said they are concerned about the events that unfolded.

Some worried about the weapon while others expressed frustration over the caravan and tent erected in the front yard.

The suburb of Beverley sits within the Charles Sturt Council, which the Better Beverley Instagram page contacted over the matter.

A local mum said she was worried for her children’s safety and had bought a security camera following the incident.

She and other neighbours reported the addition of the caravan and tent to the Spring Street property to council but she says nothing had been done.

“It’s been so hard to get anyone to do anything about it,” she said.

Charles Sturt Mayor Angela Evans said council has received a number of reports regarding the property, including on the erection of the tent and caravan.

“Council is investigating to understand the use of the tent and caravan,” she said.

She added the council has also advised SA Housing Trust of this “as they own this property”.

Mayor Evans said council was tagged in a social media post about Monday’s incident and added that anyone feeling unsafe or threatened should call SAPOL in the first instance.

Police are urging anyone who witnessed the incident and not spoken to police already to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or online at www.crimestopperssa.com.au.
