Shoeys all around as young Fisher fan one-ups Joaquin Niemann’s victory celebration

It was shoeys all around at Grange Golf Club on Sunday with a young fan’s efforts upstaging the champ’s celebration with his own iconic stunt. See the video.

LIV Golf crowd erupts for DJ Fisher shoey

The ‘shoey’ has become somewhat of a tradition in Australia; musicians do it, actors do it, and on LIV Golf’s final day it was at the forefront of the celebrations.

A shoey was exactly how one young fan started off his day when he got the opportunity of a lifetime alongside his favourite DJ.

Sydney local Beau Franklin, 9, held high a banner that asked popular DJ, Fisher, to partake in the popular party trick.

Wearing his distinctive bucket hat, Fisher wandered over to Beau — who already had a couple of shoes ready and ripe to drink out of.

The nine-year-old then filled his shoe with water while Fisher filled his with perhaps a more true-blue Aussie drink, a nice warm can of beer.

“It was very exciting,” Beau said.

“It felt like ‘oh my God, I’m with Fisher!”

Beau’s mum, Sonia Cook said it was a moment her son had been waiting for.

“Everyone stopped, everyone had noticed because Fisher said he was coming up,” Ms Cook said.

“We all thought surely not, but true to his word, he did.”

The DJ then went on to wow the crowd at the closing night’s concert.

Beau and Fisher were not the only shoey-doers as none other than the 2025 LIV Golf Adelaide champion himself, Chilean golfer Joaquin Niemann, celebrated his weekend win with a sip from his shoe.

Niemann was joined on the podium by Fireballs GC, the overall team winners, as champagne and streamers filled the sky.

“Man I love it, I’m starting to feel the chills now,” Niemann said after his victory run.

Not only was it an exciting day for golf fans, but an exciting day for South Australians as it was revealed Adelaide would be the permanent home of LIV Golf until 2031.

The crowd erupted with ecstasy as Premier Peter Malinauskas stood at the tee on the popular Watering Hole – or more commonly known as the party hole – to break the news.

The news left punters from across the nation with a smile from ear to ear; all except for a few Victorians who were hopeful the thrilling event would be “stolen” from South Australia.

However, for a few Albury locals — who showed up to the day dressed head-to-toe as ducks all the way down to their socks and jocks — Adelaide would be their temporary home for as long as LIV Golf was in the state.

“We will be here every single year,” Morgan George said.

South Australian local Kimberley Bolton came along with her family to support their favourite Australian golfers and reigning LIV Golf champions, Ripper GC, and were thrilled to find out the news about the tournament’s future in their home state.

“It’s great for tourism, it’s great for us as a family to go out and experience sport and culture,” Mrs Bolton said.

“With so many international people flocking to South Australia it’s pretty great to see more culture coming to South Australia in future, it really is great.”

It was an exciting weekend for LIV Golf Adelaide 2025, with major announcements, some incredible golf, and also an appearance from some slithery spectators.

Spectators at LIV Golf on Saturday had an unexpected wildlife encounter, as a large brown snake was spotted slithering through crowds at the Grange Golf Club.

In a video uploaded to the Golf Gods Instagram page, the snake could be seen trying to escape, as onlookers congregated, phones out, to capture the moment – some possibly not realising how venomous the slithery creature actually was.

A second incident in a different part of the event was also witnessed over the weekend.

Footage from 7NEWS showed a large brown snake making its way through the lines of a bar precinct and towards punters seated on wooden tables and chairs.

Since coming to SA in 2023, LIV Golf Adelaide has showcased the state to nearly 800 million viewers across more than 100 territories.

It was a memorable event from the opening moments, with a hole-in-one during the sixth tee shot of the tournament on Friday.

American Patrick Reed sunk the shot at the famous party hole, which saw him drenched as spectators threw their cups onto the teeing ground in celebration.

On the final day of the tournament, Premier Peter Malinauskas announced an extension to the LIV Golf contract, with the event staying at Grange Golf Club until 2028, when it will move to a state-of-the-art course at North Adelaide.
