The first images of a new $250m town centre development at Roseworthy have been revealed.
Anchored by a new Coles supermarket, the first stage of the retail and commercial precinct will include more than 30 retail spaces, food and beverage outlets, office space, a childcare centre and a dedicated medical and wellness hub.
Construction is expected to commence early next year at the site, opposite the new Trinity College R-10 campus on the corner of High St and The Boulevard, within local developer Land Vision Group’s St Yves housing project.
Land Vision Group managing director Joe Oppedisano said the town centre project would become “the new commercial hub for Adelaide’s evolving northern suburbs”.
“We are thrilled to see the Roseworthy Town Centre project moving forward,” he said.
“The commitment of Coles as the anchor tenant is a significant vote of confidence in the future of this precinct. Their presence will undoubtedly drive foot traffic and attract other quality retailers to the development.
“The scale and diversity of this development reflects the robust growth projections for Adelaide’s northern suburbs.”
More than 160 new homes have been built or are currently under construction at the St Yves development, which will eventually add more than 800 new homes off Horrocks Highway in Adelaide’s fast-growing north.
New laws passed parliament last month opening up parcels of land at Roseworthy to developers by exempting them from SA’s legislated Environment and Food Protection Areas.
Removing the urban boundary paves the way for about 61,500 new homes in greenfield estates north and south of Adelaide, including about 43,300 around Two Wells and Roseworthy, north of Gawler.
Mr Oppedisano said the town centre development would be a “game-changer” for Adelaide’s fast-growing northern region.
“With the population of Roseworthy expected to grow to over 30,000 residents over the next two decades, this centre is destined to be more than a retail and commercial hub – it’s an evolving town centre and strategic vision for the future of the Roseworthy, Barossa and Gawler region.”
Designed by architecture firm Hames Sharley, the first stage of the town centre project is expected to open in early 2028.
