Life has returned to one of Toowoomba’s most historical CBD streets.
Sections of the once vibrant Russell Street have been closed for the better part of the past year, as construction works took place.
But the hustle and bustle returned to the revamped street on Saturday, as crowds turned out to celebrate its reopening with a massive block party.
Bursting with activity, the block party event provided patrons with live music, food trucks, historical tours and art and craft activities.
And while surrounding roads were closed to traffic, it was business as usual for stores along Russell Street, with extended trading hours offered on the day.
It marked the halfway point in the $2.5 million refresh project, with construction set to start on the eastern end between Ruthven and Neil streets in the new year.
