‘We know who you are’: Police continue manhunt after horror attack

A 68-year-old man remains in hospital after he was violently assaulted in his Rockville home in the early hours of Wednesday.

The man was reportedly in the process of preparing breakfast just after 6am when he was alerted to a disturbance in another part of the house.

He sustained deep lacerations to both of his arms and chest, and underwent surgery last night.

Darling Downs Police detective acting inspector Paula Smithard said police were aware of the identities of the alleged offenders.

“Toowoomba detectives know the identity of these two male offenders and what we can say about this offence is that it’s abhorrent, and we all deserve to feel safe in our own homes,” she said.

Detective Smithard said Toowoomba detectives will continue their search to ensure the offenders were brought to justice.

Toowoomba Police are appealing to anyone who may know the alleged offenders to come forward and disclose their location and encourage them to hand themselves in.

“We will not stop searching for you, and we will arrest you for these offences,” she said.

Investigations are continuing to determine whether the incident is linked to reports of other robberies that took place in the days leading up to the attack.

Police confirmed the assault was random.

Detective Smithard confirmed the alleged offenders were teens.

Police said no CCTV or photos of the alleged offenders would be released.

“Lock your houses and call for help, we will get there as soon as possible,” she said.

Anyone with CCTV footage is urged to contact police.
