Crime spree-accused Mitchell Thomas Malcolm Skinner has matter adjourned until November

One of the men accused of a region-wide crime spree has had his charges brought before court with a major update revealed. Here’s what happened.

The case against a man accused of a region-wide crime spree across the Southern Downs has stalled, a court has been told.

Police allege Mitchell Thomas Malcolm Skinner was involved in a major crime spree ranging from Warwick and Allora, down to the Queensland border, alongside two other alleged co-accused.

The Southern Downs man, aged 27, is accused of speeding across properties at Killarney before losing control of his vehicle and being arrested by police.

Police responded to a variety of property offences in January this year, and will allege Mr Skinner was involved in several matters in Allora, Warwick, Karara and Killarney.

On Wednesday, the man’s case was mentioned again in Warwick Magistrates Court, where defence lawyer Sarah Campbell said Mr Skinner had matters which would proceed on a pending indictment in Dalby Magistrates Court.

Thus, the Warwick matters would need a lengthy adjournment before proceeding.

It is understood the man has been in custody since January 17.

Mr Skinner is facing a lengthy charge list, including two counts of arson, four charges of evade, nine charges of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, two charges of break and enter, seven charges of driving while disqualified, four charges of dangerous operation of motor vehicle, two charges of unlawful possession of a vehicle, three charges of driving with false plates, one charge of each of unlicensed driving, stealing, unlawfully entering farmland and failure to stop a vehicle and two charges of wilful damage. No pleas have been entered at this stage.

The matter was adjourned until November 11, 2024 for mention.
