A woman whose body lay inside her ‘piece of paradise’ for days has been identified

A woman who is believed to have been dead for several days before her body was found inside her home near Toowoomba has been identified.

Forensic officers are combing a property at Crows Nest, near Toowoomba, after the body of a woman was discovered inside her home on Monday.

Krishna Chopra, 61, was found dead inside her “piece of paradise” on Monday afternoon after her employer contacted police and raised concerns for her wellbeing.

It is understood she may have been dead for some days.

Police today spent their third day at the Park Rd home, which has been declared a crime scene. Investigators are still working to determine whether her death is suspicious.

And State Emergency Services volunteers, guided by police, conducted a search of the adjacent golf course for potential evidence.

A statement released by Queensland Police Service said the body of a woman was found inside the Crows Nest home at 2pm on Monday.

“A crime scene has been established while inquiries are made into the circumstances surrounding her death,” the statement said.

“Police are awaiting results of an autopsy to determine the 61-year-old’s cause of death, and are currently looking into all avenues of inquiry.

“State Emergency Services volunteers are assisting officers in a search of the area.”

Neighbours described Ms Chopra as a lovely woman who had moved to the area from NSW about a year ago.

They said she’d considered her home her “piece of paradise” and had spent a lot of time renovating it, painting it inside and out.

One neighbour said they’d become concerned when she hadn’t emerged to take her clothes off the line when it had rained.

It is understood Ms Chopra has a daughter who lives near Warwick.

Police, including forensic officers, could be seen coming in and out of the house, and had opened up a shipping container on the property to examine its contents.
