A North Queensland coffee farm has brewed up big expansion plans for a new tourist park and garden centre.

A new tourist park could soon be coming to the Whitsundays with plans for 60 caravan sites, 5 rooms, and campgrounds submitted by a locally run company.
The company, which owns Whitsunday Gold Coffee and a number of other local businesses, would build the tourist park and a garden centre at the existing Whitsunday Gold site.
Documents submitted by Wynne Planning & Development on behalf of Tropic Isle Retail Stores outline upgrades and new facilities set for the 17.95 hectare site located at 12505 Bruce Highway, Hamilton Plains.
“The proposed upgrade will provide for upgraded amenities and dining areas, refurbishment of the existing refreshment premises, inclusion of a new tourist park to revive relax,” Wynne Planning & Development wrote.
They said the proposed tourist park would provide accommodation for families, travellers, and passing road users.
The application shows a new single storey reception building including five motel style rooms looking out over the park, laundry facilities, and an amenities block.
Guests will also be able to access communal spaces on the new site including barbecue, and play areas and will have easy access to the existing cafe, shop, and indoor play area.
A spot is also marked on the plans for a future pool area.
The motel rooms all contain one bed in a studio layout and are equipped with a kitchenette, bathroom, and dining area.
The tourist park and outdoor garden centre would be ancillary to the coffee farm, tourist information centre, cafe, kids play area, and shop already on the premises according to the application.
They also note the large rural property has plenty of space for overspill car parking spaces and an additional six additional guest spaces would be made available.
