Major retailer Spotlight looks to be the latest store to head to the Whitsundays with a new location likely to open its doors later this year.

With no Spotlight nearby those living in Cannonvale currently have to drive over 140km to get to the nearest store in Mackay but that drive could be getting a whole lot shorter with the 146th Spotlight store expected to be located in Whitsunday Plaza.

It would join the likes of Harvey Norman, Big W, and Woolworths in the Cannonvale complex, though both Spotlight and the Plaza were unable to confirm the information.

The Australian-owned Spotlight Retail Group posted to Seek looking for a store manager for the new location where they said they were looking for the kind of attitude that helped them grow from a family-run market stall to one of Australia’s most successful family-owned retailers.

They noted in the listing positions for department team leaders, supervisors, and team members would open in the coming months.
