Why voting is important

Southern Downs residents will seize the opportunity to make their opinions count when they head to the region’s polling booths on October 26.

For those unable to attend a voting centre there is the option of a postal vote, which must be completed and mailed back to the ECQ by 6pm on election day. Find out how to apply for a postal vote here.

Residents can also submit their votes prior to October 26 by attending a designated early voting centre in their electorate.

Early voting will begin from Monday, October 14 until Friday, October 25 between 8am and 6pm at Warwick Town Hall.

Young people voting for the first time can enrol to vote through the Australian Electoral Commission here.

WHERE TO VOTE

Voting centres will open at 8am and close at 6pm on October 26.

LIZ SUDUK, ONE NATION

Liz Suduk, a former NSW police officer turned beef farmer, has raised her hand as a member of Pauline Hanson’s One Nation party to represent the Southern Downs electorate.

GREG JOHNSON, LABOR

Recently announced as the Queensland Labor Party’s candidate for the Southern Downs, Stanthorpe resident Greg Johnson will be a familiar face having run as a councillor candidate in the 2020 local government election.

Warwick Daily News has reached out to Mr Johnson for comment.
