Truck carrying dog trailer crashes through bridge on Cunningham Hwy

Emergency services crews have responded to a third heavy vehicle rollover in Southern Queensland in a matter of days.

The driver of a truck has narrowly escaped serious injury after his vehicle lost control and crashed through a guard rail on the Cunningham Highway.

It is believed the incident occurred just before midday on Tuesday when the truck, carrying a dog trailer has exited the highway and rolled on its side near Rodgers Creek Rd around 20kms west of Warwick.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokeswoman said one crew was assisting on scene along with police and paramedics.

The driver, a man in his 40s is understood to have suffered a minor laceration injury and was transported to Warwick Hospital, a Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said.

A Queensland Police spokeswoman said the vehicle has crashed into a nearby paddock and is not blocking the highway.

The incident marks the third heavy vehicle rollover in a matter of days after a truck rolled at a busy Warwick intersection on Friday, with a second heavy vehicle rollover on the New England Highway on Saturday.

Warwick acting OIC Shane Reid said within the past three days police responded to matters including several serious injury and fatal crashes in the Darling Downs District.

“Police strongly remind motorists to drive according to the road and weather conditions and obey the fatal five contributing factors when behind the wheel,” he said.
