Young man in serious condition after rural electrocution

Paramedics were called to a rural property southwest of Warwick after a worker was electrocuted and suffered serious burns.

A worker is being treated in the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital burns unit after he was electrocuted at a rural property west of Texas.

The man, aged in his 30s, was working at a private property on Texas-Yelarbon Road about 2.30pm when a crane came into contact with powerlines.

As a result the man suffered serious burns.

Emergency services were called to the Smithlea address where paramedics worked to stabilise the man before he was transferred to an RACQ LifeFlight helicopter and flown to Brisbane in a serious condition.

Police and firefighters were also at the scene of a Queensland Fire and Emergency Services crew helping to move the crane after Essential Power linesmen cut the power to the area.
