The Southern Downs was one of many communities across Queensland who bore the brunt of themajor floods last year.

After living through one of theworst droughtsarguably faced in South East Queensland, the region was forced to live through another tremendous natural disaster.

The House of Representatives Economic Committee has now launched an inquiry into the preparedness of insurers when it comes to natural disasters, after dozens of reports made by homeowners of their poor experience.

The committee is asking residents from those flood affected areas to submit their experience as part of the inquiry and will also take into consideration ASIC’s claims handling review and Deliotte’s external review of insurers’ responses to the 2022 floods.
