Police investigate murder in Warwick

A Southern Downs man’s charges have been upgraded to attempted murder after he allegedly assaulted another man with a crowbar causing significant injuries.

Andre James Star did not appear in Warwick Magistrates Court when his case was mentioned on Tuesday.

The 46-year-old faces one charge each of attempted murder, unlawfully wounding another, and threatening violence with a firearm or other act.

He has been in custody at the Warwick watch-house since his arrest on Sunday.

Defence lawyer Amber Acreman said her client would not be applying for bail and asked the prosecution for a full brief of evidence.

Police claim Star attacked the 45-year-old man with a crowbar following an altercation at an Inglewood Texas Road home at about midday on Sunday.

It is alleged the victim, who sustained significant head and thigh injuries, was known to Star.

The Texas man will remain in custody until his matter is next mentioned in Warwick Magistrates Court on November 10.
