SCRU A-GRADE RD 6 TEAM OF THE WEEK

1. Will Tanzer (Caloundra)

Is making a real case to be credited as one of the competition’s standout front row stars this season with another huge display against Noosa.

Tanzer’s ability to work hard on both sides of the ball with a huge motor was applauded once again on Saturday.

2. Isaac Talbot (Maroochydore)

To no surprise the Swans captain was among his side’s best once again on Saturday.

Talbot’s ball security, scrum performance and clean out play was to be admired, shifting slightly from prop to hooker for this side.

3. Julian Scott-Davies (Noosa)

Was injected into the game at halftime with the Dolphins 19-6 down.

The damaging prop did a solid job at containing Caloundra’s forward pack with some strong carries and powerful hits.

4. Mitch Schneider (Maroochydore)

Has been the competition’s best at the lineout this season and ruled the set piece once again on Saturday.

Has such safe hands at the contest as he rewarded his side with plenty of ball.

5. Harry Wright (Noosa)

Wright did all he could for his side on Saturday with countless breakdown steals, impressive lineout plays and open play running.

The Dolphins second rower lifted his side in a number of areas, finishing the match as Noosa’s best in a losing side.

6. Kai Grimley (Wynnum)

The Bugs flanker has gone to another level in recent weeks, earning back-to-back team of the week selections despite some one-sided team results.

Worked hard to get over the advantage line with every carry and was a force at the breakdown.

7. Josh Mostert (University)

With Barbarians captain Luke Kimber out, Mostert is really starting to evolve as a dominant loose forward this season.

His work off the ball and effort plays at the ruck have been huge through the opening rounds as he was strong again against Caboolture.

8. Nela Prescott (Caboolture)

The Snakes number eight produced plenty of highlight hits against University on Saturday.

Prescott was his side’s best in a beaten pack.

9. Brady Kingan (Maroochydore)

With Nathan Baughan out of action for the Swans (who has been in solid form this season), Kingan stepped into the halfback role against the Bugs in round six.

He controlled the game really well from the ruck and from open play, guiding his forwards and close-quartered backs to a number of try scoring chances.

Caloundra’s Jarrod Kidstron was also strong and made a good case to be picked this week.

10. Mac Burgess (Caloundra)

The Caloundra playmaker has definitely made an impact in the last few weeks, starring when coming off the bench against Maroochydore in round five and again when starting against Wynnum in round six.

His ability to flow in and out of attacking sequences has been key and it pinned back the Noosa attack all game long.

Burgess finished with a try, two from three conversions and two penalty goals.

11. Landry Bezombes (University)

The international star has added plenty of x-factor to the Barbarians this season as he finished with a huge four try haul against Caboolture.

Bezombes has recorded eight tries through his first four matches.

12. Shaun Fletcher (Caboolture)

It was tough going for the Snakes in round six with University producing an attacking barrage at home.

Despite the one sided scoreline, Fletcher copped plenty in attack and never dropped his head with a number of impressive defensive plays.

The Snakes centre was also able to grab a five pointer of his own.

13. James Simpson-Te Pairi (Caloundra)

Was Caloundra’s best on Saturday, earning himself back-to-back team of the week selections.

Against Noosa, the eager eyed number 12 was damaging off the back of the ruck while also creating space for his outside men.

Simpson-Te Pairi kept the Noosa attack contained all match with a number of key defensive stops.

14. Junior Sisa (University)

The Barbarians wing duo couldn’t be stopped on Saturday as Sisa was the other attacking standout with two tries of his own.

Sisa went looking for work all game, hungry to get involved in the play and when he had the ball he cruised past defenders with ease.

15. Joe Gordon (Caloundra)

Slotted in on the wing for Caloundra where he has been impressive so far this season.

Was matched with a big task of helping contain the Noosa backline but stepped up to the challenge and even showed his skills with the ball in hand.

Gordon crossed for a five pointer of his own making him too hard to leave out of this week’s team.

Noosa’s Ben Walker was the runner-up for round six.

Extended honourable mentions: Blake Enever (Caloundra), Tom McKee (University), Colby Mason (University), Patrick Sullivan (Wynnum), Sam Hoffman (Caboolture), Robert Panipasa (Caboolture), Darcy Kenafake (Wynnum), Matt Schoutrop (Noosa), Ben Walker (Noosa), Patrick Edwards (Maroochydore), Ian Filipo (Maroochydore), George Loose (Noosa), Joey Caputo (Noosa), Jarrod Kidston (Caloundra), Todd Camm (Caloundra) and Gabriele Venditti (Caloundra).
