Travis Christopher Hoskin was parked behind police when he angrily revved his car

A 25-year-old adrenaline junkie would have given road users the “heebie-jeebies” when he angrily revved his car while parked behind police.

A driver’s badly-timed burnout has cost him after he was caught laying rubber while parked behind a police car.

Travis Christopher Hoskin, 25, was parked at traffic lights on Maroochydore Rd, Buderim when he started angrily revving his car’s engine sending smoke from the wheel arches at 5pm on August 23.

Police prosecutor James Allen said police parked two vehicles ahead spotted the smoke after they heard an engine roaring.

“Police noticed excessive revving of the engine behind them and were hearing noises consistent of tyres being spun and losing grip on the bitumen,” he said.

Mr Allen told Maroochydore Magistrates Court Hoskin’s Holden Commodore was still emitting smoke from the fuel wells when the police pulled him over after passing through the intersection.

He said the Nambour man told police he revved the car because he was angry.

His car was taken for 90 days.

Hoskin pleaded guilty on Friday to wilfully making unnecessary noise or smoke.

Magistrate Maxine Baldwin said Hoskin’s actions would give other road users the “heebie-jeebies”.

“If you had a toddler in the car or an old person, you’d have to change their underwear … because they would just get such a fright,” she said.

Ms Baldwin said she didn’t understand why Hoskin revved the car.

Unrepresented, Hoskin said it gave him “a bit of an adrenaline rush”.

He said he knew it was silly to do it on the road and had started going to tracks instead.

Ms Baldwin told Hoskin jumping out of a plane was a better way to get an adrenaline rush.

She fined him $450.
