Sunshine Coast police have confirmed they are conducting a forensic investigation of racially-charged flyers that were delivered to residents before a blaze destroyed a Tewantin home where a teen was allegedly tortured.

Last month, police charged three girls aged between 12 and 14 with a number of offences over the alleged assault of a 13-year-old girl on March 11.

On March 29, the home in which the alleged acts took place was destroyed in a fire that police are treating as suspicious.

On March 28 the flyers, with information on them about how contact a neo-Nazi group, were distributed in the Tewantin street where the fire destroyed the home.

The leaflets have the word “warning” across the top in capital letters as well as photographs purporting to be two of the three girls accused of the March 11 attack.

Flyers containing racial slurs have been handed out in Tewantin.

Below that is a racial slur about the three alleged attackers, who are named in the flyer.

Criminal Investigation Branch officer-in-charge Detective Senior Sergeant Craig Mansfield said the police investigation into the leaflets was continuing.

He said officers had collected about 10 flyers from residents in the street in which the fire took place and streets surrounding it.

The detective said officers had also conducted door knocks in the streets surrounding the one in which the house burnt down.

“We are conducting a forensic review of those flyers,” Sergeant Mansfield said.

He said police officers had collected CCTV footage with the aim of identifying the people who dropped the flyers into letterboxes on the streets.

Anyone with information or CCTV footage should contact Policelink or Crime Stoppers.
