Alleged teenage bashings on the Sunshine Coast

An investigation has been opened and two teenagers have been dealt with by police in separate probes into an underground fight culture on the Sunshine Coast.

Videos from June to September 2022 show displays of brutal violence where teenagers allegedly assault unsuspecting youths in public places such as the Big Top Shopping Centre and Sunshine Plaza bus stop.

In the vision obtained by the Sunshine Coast Daily, teen girls were depicted allegedly raining blows upon other children who try to defend themselves in front of bystanders.

Sunshine Coast Child Protection Investigation Unit acting officer-in-charge Grant Gleeson confirmed an investigation had been opened into the alleged assaults.

Detective Senior Sergeant Gleeson said police were working with witnesses while offering support to those affected.

In videos which emerged on social media, three teenagers girls were seen in an alleged assault at a Lomond Cres park while adults can be heard giving fighting tips.

The fight allegedly spills out into another part of the park with an adult woman allegedly attacking another woman who was trying to defend herself and her son.

A Queensland Police spokesman said two teenage girls were dealt with under the Youth Justice Act for the incident while a woman in her 30s was issued with a caution for common assault.

Sergeant Gleeson encouraged any members of the public who witnessed any of these alleged attacks and further incidences of youth violence to contact police.

It comes as Instagram pages emerge glorifying more alleged youth violence in schools and in bus stops.
