A man who allegedly raped a person on the Sunshine Coast in 2023 has been named for the first time.

Kai Jacob Panebiango, 22, was first arrested and charged over the alleged rape in Dicky Beach on September 4, 2023, and appeared in Caloundra Magistrates Court for mention on Thursday.

Court records show Mr Panebiango was released on bail less than a month after his first appearance in the Maroochydore Magistrates Court under strict conditions to not contact his alleged victim and live at his Sunshine Coast address.

The case was later transferred to Caloundra Magistrates Court in June 2024.

During a hearing at court on Thursday, police prosecutor Sergeant Stephen Potter advised two of four witness statements had been completed, with the other two still outstanding.

Magistrate Catherine Benson granted the prosecution until March 13 to complete the remaining statements, with the matter set to be mentioned again on that date.

Mr Panebiango, who was born in Buderim, is not required to attend the next hearing and has not entered a plea.
