A furniture sales rep has admitted to being in possession of cocaine and obstructing police in a safe night precinct on the Sunshine Coast.

Police were notified of suspicious behaviour along Ocean St in Maroochydore in the early hours of April 7 where they spoke to Eloise Kate Bloomfield.

Court documents state sources informed police there was a woman allegedly trying to sell cocaine to patrons in a nightclub.

Police say they later found Bloomfield and tried to speak to her, when she resisted police.

Police prosecutor Mark Burrell said the Palmview woman was warned multiple times not to obstruct police however continued to do so.

Court documents state clip seal bags containing just over 2g of cocaine were found in her possession.

Defence barrister Peter Slipper said the 30-year-old Victorian born woman had no criminal history and submitted she was not the sort of person who would be in this position.

Mr Slipper said Bloomfield was involved in a horror fatal car accident in 2013 which killed her closest friend, and had almost died herself.

He said she was technically dead but was “resurrected” and has since been diagnosed with post traumatic stress disorder.

The court heard she was not responsible for the crash.

Bloomfield’s supporters were aggressive to the media following her sentence.

Regardless, the traumatic event impacted on her mental health significantly, and following two break ups she moved to Queensland where she works as a sales consultant in furniture.

She also has aspirations to become a teacher.

Mr Slipper said it was out of character for Bloomfield, and she was remorseful.

Magistrate Rod Madsen said Ocean St was a highly policed area to ensure punters can enjoy themselves and not be exposed to that behaviour or to those taking drugs.

Mr Madsen however accepted the cocaine was for her personal possession and how the Palmview woman took positive steps since being charged.

Bloomfield pleaded guilty to possessing dangerous drugs and three counts of obstructing police and was fined $1900 with no conviction recorded.
