While multiple crews were called it soon became clear the fire was minor and firefighters were able to locate and extinguish the blaze via a cherry picker.

Caloundra Station officer Ash Dickson said when crews arrived they could see “black smoke issuing from the roof”.

“Crews made access via an internal staircase and an external through a ladder platform to extinguish the fire in a very safe manner,” Mr Dickson said.

“Due to good local knowledge we were able to get things under control very quickly and give the building back to management.

“There is structural engineer and solar electrician attending the scene to get the stadium open as soon as possible for the public.”

The Sunshine Coast Stadium is set to host an NRL trial between the Dolphins and Titans on Sunday.
