A man in his 80s was flown to a Brisbane hospital with burns to most of his body after reportedly falling into a log fire at a Noosa hinterland property.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokesman said firefighters and paramedics found the man in a dam on a Cooran property on Schreibers Rd about 4.30pm on May 30.

“We’ve assisted in retrieving the person from out of a dam,” he said.

The spokesman said paramedics stabilised the man, supported by the firefighters, and they waited with him for the rescue helicopter.

Earlier, a Queensland Ambulance spokesman said the man, who had suffered burns to his arms, legs, chest and abdomen, was flown by rescue helicopter to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a serious condition.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokesman said firefighters put out a log fire on the property shortly after arriving.
