A Mooloolaba mother has been placed on probation after she was caught driving disqualified and high on meth in the McDonald’s drive thru before crashing into a bush.

Maroochydore Magistrates Court heard Brittany Rae Wise was under the influence of ice at the fast food establishment’s drive thru at Minyama on August 13 last year when she was caught behind the wheel.

Police prosecutor Jeanette Grigoris said the 26-year-old drove into a garden bed when police tried to intercept her. It was later revealed she was intoxicated by crystal meth and was charged with driving under the influence.

Wise faced other charges which included two counts of driving disqualified and possessing drug utensils. She pleaded guilty to all charges on Wednesday.

Sergeant Grigoris said the driving offence was “potentially dangerous” to members of the public, with it taking place at a busy McDonald’s on Nicklin Way.

The police prosecutor said the Mooloolaba woman showed a disregard for court orders.

Defence lawyer Jarrod Bell tendered medical documents before the court which stated Wise suffered from an intellectual disability and a lack of impulse control.

Mr Bell said Wise suffered a personal tragedy around the time of offending which also triggered her drug use.

Magistrate Chris Callaghan acknowledged Wise’s learning difficulties, but said court orders were there to be obeyed otherwise it would be “law of the jungle” and “survival of the fittest”.

Wise was placed on 18 months’ probation and was also disqualified from driving for two-and-a-half years.
