A Baringa drug dealer has been released on parole after spending months in custody following a crime spree which included assaulting a woman and selling liquid fantasy.

Beau John Deighton spent five and a half months in jail after he was charged with 14 offences including three counts of possessing dangerous drugs, two counts of supplying dangerous drugs and assault.

Caloundra Magistrates Court heard the details of his torrid crime spree from May 5 2023 to February 6 after he pleaded guilty to all charges.

Police prosecutor Stephen Potter said the most serious charges were of the drug dealing and bashing of a woman known to Deighton at Caloundra.

Sergeant Potter said the pair were on a bed when the 34-year-old asked his victim for some money. She said she didn’t have any.

The court heard Deighton then rained blows to the side of the woman’s head. The woman tried to use a pillow and her arm to block the punches and move away.

Deighton however cornered the woman in the room and continued to bash her while she screamed for him to stop.

He then left the unit and she called for help.

Sergeant Potter said the woman suffered redness and swelling to the left side of her face and eye.

The court heard Deighton also offered to supply an unknown drug and GHB, commonly known as liquid fantasy, on November 24, 2023 and January 24 respectively.

He was also found with varying amounts of 1,4-Butanediol, trenbolone, marijuana and meth along with drug items including a mobile phone, scales and a notepad associated with supplying dangerous drugs. He also contravened a police order to open his phone when required.

Defence lawyer Ben Rynderman said there were no evidence the drug supplies were actually completed and were only charged as prepared acts, with the quantities being very low.

Mr Rynderman said Deighton spent almost six months on remand, but before that had ran his own car detailing business and was a qualified chef.

The court heard the Baringa man suffered from chronic back pain after a major car accident in 2022, with Deighton often using a wheelchair or crutches in custody.

Deighton’s lawyer conceded the 34-year-old had concerning but dated drug matters on his criminal record, which were attributed to his problematic history with narcotics.

Acting magistrate Raelene Ellis said she would release him from custody on Tuesday due to the time he already served, but said it was his “last chance” to deal with the drug issues which plagued him.

Deighton was sentenced to 15 months’ jail, but was allowed 163 days in custody as time served. He was given immediate parole.
