Police allege pair caught in Pallara supplied drugs on Sunshine Coast

Video footage from inside a key drug raid at a suburban home has been released following a significant seven-month police operation stretching from Brisbane to Noosa.

Sunshine Coast detectives arrest four people on more than 25 charges in Operation Tango Gray.

Four people have been charged with more than 25 offences following a seven-month police blitz targeting illicit drugs and firearms on the Sunshine Coast.

During operation Tango Gray, three properties and two vehicles were searched across south-east Queensland.

It resulted in the seizure of almost $500,000 in illicit substances, including 43kg of cannabis and 290g of methylamphetamine.

In addition, two firearms, a sawn-off shotgun and a concealable firearm were also allegedly seized.

Sunshine Coast CIB officer-in-charge Detective Senior Sergeant Craig Mansfield said during a press conference on March 17 that small amounts of MDMA were also allegedly being supplied.

The closure of the operation culminated in a raid at a Pallara residence in South Brisbane on March 14.

A 26-year-old Pallara man has been charged with four counts of possessing dangerous drugs, two counts each of trafficking dangerous drugs, possessing anything used in the commission of a crime and one count each of fail to provide access to data (electronics), possess utensils that had been used and producing dangerous drugs.

He has been remanded in custody and will next face Richlands Magistrates Court on May 10.

A 24-year-old Heathwood woman has been charged with three counts of possessing dangerous drugs, two counts of trafficking dangerous drugs, and one count each of possess utensils or pipes, possessing anything for use in the commission of crime, possessing anything used in the commission of crime and producing dangerous drugs.

She has been remanded in custody and will next face Richlands Magistrates Court on May 15.

Senior Sergeant Mansfield said during the press conference that police would allege 43kg of hydroponic cannabis was found at the Pallara address, along with about 250g of methylamphetamine.

A 20-year-old Mountain Creek man has been charged with three counts of trafficking dangerous drugs, discharge weapon in a public place and unlawful supply of weapons.

He is next due to face Maroochydore Magistrates Court on April 21.

A 20-year-old Tewantin man has been charged with four counts of drug trafficking.

He is next due to face Noosa Magistrates Court on April 11.

Senior Sergeant Mansfield said the drugs were allegedly being moved in vehicles.

“A couple of vehicles were intercepted in Mooloolaba and Noosa so those drugs had a reach from the southern end of our coast to the northern end of our district here,” he said.

“No doubt there are other people involved in the syndicate that we have not caught up with yet, but our investigations continuing.”

Detectives will estimate the respective street value of the cannabis and methylamphetamine to be $380,0000 and $100,000.

Detective Senior Sergeant Craig Mansfield said officers had worked tirelessly throughout the operation.

He said the investigation had yielded great results.

“Police have disrupted supply and distribution networks for these dangerous drugs which cause untold harm to so many families and have put those we allege are responsible before the courts,” Senior Sergeant Mansfield said.
